18th century Tobacco Box

Tobacco Box. 18th century brass box in an elongated octagonal form, engraved on four sides. The top is inscribed “Delft” above a depiction of the city showing canals, towers, steeples, bridges, waves and two windmills. On the bottom is a simplified rendering of the Delft coat of arms (see Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam) and on two sides are foliate designs. The brass is unpolished and there are 5 tiny splits on the folded molded edges, which are difficult to see in the photos. 5 ½ X 2 ¼ X 1 ¼ inches. 2nd half of the 18th century ~ probably Dutch.
