18th Century Firing Glass

18th Century Firing Glass, clear drinking glass raised on a heavy flattened foot with a large, compressed bubble inside a thick, slightly flared stem… etched “AF”. The heavy foot indicates that it was, by custom, to be pounded on the table after a toast. Snapped or broken pontil, clear glass with some bubbles inside the foot. 4 inches tall, 2 & 3/4th inches wide at base of foot. Excellent condition. British, circa 1750-1780.
